NSG Age Restrictions Policy
INTRODUCTION
In 2023 Netball WA have abolished the age restrictions for Net Set Go to allow players turning seven (7) to ten (10) in that calendar year to play in a sub junior grade. As of winter season 2023 Noranda Netball Association will allow clubs to register players turning ten (10) in that calendar year to play in a sub junior grade.
THE PURPOSE
This Policy acts as a guiding document for clubs who are considering selecting a ten (10) year old to play in Sub Juniors and outlines the actions Noranda Netball Association will take if the rules are not observed.
THE POLICY
It is strongly recommended that clubs do not register a ten (10) year old to play Sub Junior grade to make up numbers and the ten (10) year olds are only being registered in a Sub Junior grade if they have the ability to play at this level, including a good understanding of the game and be physically and emotionally ready to play full rules netball. The club does not require approval from Noranda Netball Association to select a player into a Sub Junior team. Clubs should give consideration when grading their teams to the age and skill level of other players to ensure even ability across the team where the ten (10) year old is being selected into.
Under no circumstances can a ten (10) year old player fill in or be selected to play in a Junior grade.
Clubs may use ten (10) year olds to fill in for Sub Junior teams that are short of players and should have a good understanding of the game.
A ten (10) year old who is chosen to play in Sub Junior grade cannot:
BREACH OF POLICY
A club that plays a ten (10) year old in a Junior grade will be subject to the below:
