Inappropriate Behaviour Policy
INTENT OF POLICY
The policy is to ensure that Noranda Netball Association (NNA) provides a clear and consistent procedure to effectively manage and address inappropriate behaviour from players, coaches, officials or spectators. NNA has a responsibility to provide a safe environment for players, coaches, officials and spectators and will not tolerate behaviour that makes any of these individuals feel uncomfortable or threatened.
HOW THE POLICY WORKS
The policy outlines the official procedure for a player, coach, official or spectator to lodge a complaint about inappropriate behaviour experienced, and outlines how the committee will then review and action this complaint.
THE POLICY
A player, coach, official or spectator may not be in breach of NNA’s Code of Conduct, which outlines the expected behaviour of anyone entering the Sue Belcher / Noranda Netball Association Complex. The Code of Conduct can be found here.
THE PROCESS
Informal Management of Behaviour
On game days, members can still ask for committee members/senior umpires to oversee behaviour on court. If the offence is not serious and can be dealt with by a supervisor, there will be no need for further action unless seen fit by the supervisor (i.e. disciplinary action should be taken). An incident report form will still need to be completed if the incident is to be taken further.
Lodging a Formal Complaint
If a player, coach, official or spectator wishes to report another individual in violation of NNA’s Code of Conduct, they will need to complete an Incident Report Form and submit this to [email protected] or the NNA office no later than 48 hours after the incident. This form will need to detail the incident as well as any witnesses (preferably signed by said witness(es), and be signed off by the club president or a club official in the case the president is not available.
Incident Review
The incident is to be reviewed by the committee minus any person with a conflict of interest. (Any further mention of the committee will disclude any person with a conflict of interest). If by majority the committee believes that the offence is serious enough, the appropriate action can then be taken. This may include:
Disputes
If the offender wishes to dispute the complaint raised against them, they can do so by contacting [email protected] speaking directly to a committee member within 48 hours of receiving communication about the incident.
Disputed complaints are to be taken to a tribunal, made up of a panel of three committee members, called the Management Committee, including the President or Vice President if available and not a conflict or interest, and any other persons appropriate to make an informed decision.
The offender is to present their argument, as well as any witness recounts or other evidence to dispute the complaint. Once heard, the panel is to determine the appropriate action to be taken, or if the complaint can be dismissed.
The Committee will have the final say in any disciplinary action that is decided on, and will not enter into further discussion once the decision is made.

- A verbal or written warning to the offender or, if unable to be reached, the club responsible via the club president (who may then pass the warning on to the appropriate team).
- A monetary fine given to the club.
- A probationary period where the length of the period is defined by the committee. In this time, if the offender has any further complaints made against them they will be requested to attend a meeting with the Management Committee or risk suspension. The committee will decide at the end of the probationary period whether to lift or extend the probation, or refuse the offender membership.
- Immediate suspension from the Sue Belcher/Noranda Netball Association Complex for a length decided by the committee.
- Disqualification or loss of premiership points.
- A ban from the Sue Belcher/Noranda Netball Association Complex.
